An Ever-Deepening Dependence on God

Do you find yourself in a situation today that requires an ever-deepening dependence on God?

Perhaps you are embarking on something new with a mix of exhilaration and apprehension, thrilled for the adventure but terrified about what the journey entails.

Or maybe your new season is challenging, such as caring for an aging loved one or moving forward after a divorce.

King David depended on God in his time of stress and says, “For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name’s sake you lead me and guide me.” Psalm 31:3.

We can navigate difficult seasons or new endeavors with total dependence on our trustworthy God. Our move out of California three years ago and the call to start this ministry required wholehearted faith and trust in Him.

Today, my reliance on Him has increased.  While I love sharing God’s word with others, I often feel reticent without a message to give.

There are days when my zeal has lost its zip, and instead of words flowing, I face a blank page.

But I’m learning this is the way God desires for me to grow in my pursuit and patience with Him. It’s only through an ever-deepening dependence on the Lord that I can move forward with the proper mindset.

Because if this were easy work, perhaps I would take pride in my abilities and think…I’ve got this.

But I don’t “got this.” God does.

It’s through earnestly seeking Him, quietly studying, and fervently praying that I find my way. It’s in my weakness that I have to lean in and seek His grace.

He leads me with a quiet nudge- a thought or an idea that is my starting point. Word by word and sentence upon sentence, His message builds and manifests on my page.

And so it is with much of what God asks us to do. We love a swift and simple outcome from any endeavor we set out to accomplish, or a tough season we have to walk through. But freedom from these types of challenges would mean self-reliance and independence, not painstaking dependence on the One we need most.

Do you find yourself today in a situation that requires an ever-deepening dependence on Him who called you?

Take heart, friend. He will lead and guide you as you depend on Him.
