Fuel Up

Coming off of the Easter holiday maybe you attended a Sunday morning church service or a Good Friday celebration. You took communion and you read fifty Easter memes on social media. Your heart is soaked in gratitude for Jesus’ work on the cross and His redemptive power to save you.

Or maybe that’s not where you’re at. Maybe hard, heavy stuff is going on in your life and your tank is empty and your soul is dry. You went through the motions last weekend of celebrating and doing the church thing, but you are running low on spiritual zeal. The trials are draining and the demands are daunting.

It’s sometimes difficult to get back to a high-octane faith. Or maybe you were never there. Perhaps you’ve been chugging along in low gear hardly tapping into the power source that’s readily available to you. Many of us walk in that low-level faith never really knowing how to kick-start it into high gear.

I feel you, friend.

But Ephesians 1 tells us that we as believers have been marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit, a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance. This deposit is how we fuel up with the power and the purpose for which we’re longing. We don’t have to sputter along these dirty, depleting roads struggling to find strength when we can tap into His fuel supply.

Do you know the glorious hope to which He has called you? It’s an incredible inheritance for the saints and an incomparably great power for those who believe. It’s the same power that raised Christ from the grave and seated Him at God’s right hand in the heavenly realm that LIVES IN US. (Ephesians 1: 18,19)

It’s unfathomable I know, but it’s true.

However, what we put into our tank matters. Surrounding ourselves with other believers, spending time in prayer, worship, and reading God’s word fills up our engines. Seeking Him with our heart, soul, mind, and strength and laying aside the things of the world will keep us from being stranded roadside.

May Jesus be our driving force. And may we never forget that He is head over all things and it’s His fullness who fills everything in every way. (Ephesians 1: 22, 23)

Let’s fuel up daily with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a heart in high gear for Jesus.
