He Listens When We Talk About Him
Spending time with my neighbor friend, Susan, is always a good mood booster. She loves the Lord so much that she can’t help but talk about Him. No matter where our conversation starts, it always lands on Jesus.
And because He is always in earshot, He listens when we talk about Him. And not only does He hear us, but He remembers and writes it down.
“Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name.” Malachi 3:16.
I know my phone listens to me when I scroll, and I immediately see ads for something I mentioned earlier. Ooof, Big Brother vibes.
And so does Google Home. “Hey Google, play some music.” And she does it.
But Jesus is also listening to my conversations when I talk about Him.
It makes sense if He hears us when we call to Him in prayer, then of course, He hears us every other time we are conversing.
Like the summer day when Susan invited me over to float in her pool, and with cold drinks in hand, we chatted, and she shared some of her past hardships and what the Lord brought her through.
His Spirit was in our midst, poolside, taking notes and writing down our good words on His scroll.
It’s kind of funny to think about the God of the universe being part of our chitchat as we rejoice over His goodness to us. But this offers great hope to us who believe.
What comfort we have in knowing that no matter what we’ve been through or what we’re going through, God remembers us.
Malachi goes on to tell us, “And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” (Malachi 3:18).
Our discussions shouldn’t be gossip sessions but rather conversations of gracious speech that point others to Jesus.
Lord, may my love for You overflow into my conversations. As I gather with others, may I never forget to share your faithfulness with them. May I always remember that You listen, remember, and record my glowing sentiments about You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
I'm so glad you're here!
There is abundant, joy-filled life available to us through Jesus! The world is dark but there is always hope in the bright light of Him. Prayer is powerful.
Love,
Kimberly
