When God Gives You a Crumb
Writing a weekly devotional is a new gig for me and one that I don’t take lightly. After all, when you’re handling the word of God there’s some pressure to relay a biblically sound message, make it interesting, and keep it brief (many have short attention spans when scrolling😊).
Then there’s the question of what to write about. Being somewhat new to the writing game, I’ve questioned whether I could offer enough to my readers. There are days when life’s demands have sucked me dry and void of any creative ideas or clear messages from God.
But then, as I sit quietly waiting and praying to hear from Him, He gives me a crumb. At least that’s what it feels like. Sometimes it’s just a word, two words, or maybe one verse that pops out. And that is where I have to begin, because even in my limitations God’s grace abounds.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
This was the verse He gave me when I was doubting and questioning my calling and so far, He has been faithful to deliver. In the same way that Jesus was able to multiply the boy’s five loaves and two fish to feed the multitudes, He can take my little crumb and turn it into His message.
He showed Himself faithful to the widow whom Elijah visited and with only a small amount of flour and a little oil she made him a bread cake. Her flour was not used up and her oil did not run dry in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.
He turns our little into a lot, and our daily manna is enough to suffice.
While I often feel limited and inadequate in my abilities without a storehouse of ideas, I trust that I can look to God for my morsel and He will multiply it. I would rather have a large, fresh loaf that I can slice up and offer to you, my readers. But I will settle for the crumb and watch God do His best work through it.
I'm so glad you're here!
There is abundant, joy-filled life available to us through Jesus! The world is dark but there is always hope in the bright light of Him. Prayer is powerful.
Love,
Kimberly
