Good and Evil
With a ministry name like Sunny Skies Ahead, you’d think I would write about lollipops and rainbows most of the time. I wish I could; it sounds easier and more pleasant.
My goal is to give you hope, joy, and light in a depraved world. The best way I know how to do that is to give you the truth from God’s word, and the truth about what’s to come as we look good and evil in the face.
October brings us pumpkin lattes and sweater weather which I love. But the flip side to that is the evil lurking on every corner- towering skeletons, ghastly figures, and tombstones like those in my neighbor’s yard. Why, I wonder, do people want to celebrate evil when turning on the news brings us real-life sinister stories and frightening accounts of atrocious events to keep us terrified through the night?
Don’t stop reading this if you think I’m going to preach about Halloween! I’m not. I love trick-or-treaters in happy costumes and leftover Snickers bars.
I’d rather share what’s on my heart in light of what we see happening in the world around us.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12.
What we see going on in the form of wars, terror, innocent lives being taken, and wicked pursuits against our children all come from demonic unseen forces battling against the Lord. Jesus tells us while the thief (the enemy of our souls) wants to steal, kill, and destroy, He has come to give us abundant life (John 10:10)
Good and evil.
I can tell you how this raging battle ends. Jesus wins. Good will ultimately triumph over evil and those who walk with God and fear Him are victorious. I’m not talking about the ghost and goblin kind of fear, I’m talking reverential fear.
“Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. He foils the plans of the nations and thwarts the purposes of the people.” (Psalm 33: 9-11)
There is no evil ruler, no terrorist group, and no politician who has the power to overthrow our God.
Angels and demons. Light and darkness. Only one will win.

I'm so glad you're here!
There is abundant, joy-filled life available to us through Jesus! The world is dark but there is always hope in the bright light of Him. Prayer is powerful.
