The Best Day Evaaa
Last week my daughter and I had a girl’s day. Following a move, and then unpacking one brown box after another, I was ready to break out and have some fun. The sun was shining so we headed downtown for a walk and some sightseeing.
Because Chloe knew I was pretty pumped about our day together, she joined the excitement by saying we would have “the best day evaaa.” We laughed knowing that was an extreme statement.
The really funny part about having your 20-something daughter move back in is that Taylor Swift comes home too. She belted out her tunes in the car, singing every word as I pulled into the church parking lot to vote.
An older couple was walking by as Chloe flailed her arms and exaggerated the Swiftie lyrics in her off-key tone. They pretended not to see, but I’m certain they were amused. With voting out of the way, we were off to our little adventure.
It was a glorious day (albeit chilly and windy), as we parked and then hopped on the trail that leads into downtown. We stopped in a few art galleries, did some shopping then grabbed a burger. While waiting to be seated we drooled over the decadent milkshakes and decided if we were going to get the fat or the skinny fries (fat of course😊)
We chatted about her new season of life and the different options that God has presented to her. It was noted that small-city charm is far more wholesome than big-city scary in DC, and even in the winter months, there is a warm, friendliness that radiates our hometown.
We finished up our girl’s outing knowing it didn’t necessarily fall under the ‘best day ever’ category, but just spending time together doing ordinary things made it pretty darn great.
I'm so glad you're here!
There is abundant, joy-filled life available to us through Jesus! The world is dark but there is always hope in the bright light of Him. Prayer is powerful.
Love,
Kimberly
