The Woman in the Middle

“He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Have you wondered when your day will come? We often feel like the woman in the middle of others’ successes coming to fruition, dreams fulfilled, and prayers being answered.

Maybe you look and see things falling into place for people around you and think…when is the thing that I’m waiting for going to happen? When is my breakthrough coming, work promotion, marriage fixed, prodigal home, health restored, or financial struggles over?

I believe we all ask those questions. We wonder and we wait.

But God spoke to me about the women in the Bible. None of them had it easy.

Sarah didn’t have it easy and neither did Ruth.

Sarah was barren, awaiting God’s promise until the age of 90 and Ruth was widowed at a young age.

Esther was raised by her cousin and then placed in a high-pressure situation as a newly crowned queen to save her people.

Bathsheba committed adultery, her husband was killed and her baby died.

As a young teenager, Mary was chosen to carry the Savior of the world even though she was a virgin.

I bet these women struggled with feeling like they were in the middle of failure, loss, and embarrassment.

I struggle with this, too. I want so much for certain situations to be different and often feel like I’m in the middle of disappointment, but I know that’s simply not true. When we truly surrender to God, we live in the middle of His perfect will.

Those women above were anointed and appointed by God. They were highly favored and predestined for victorious lives. And victorious they were.

Guess what, friends? So are we. We too are anointed, appointed, and victorious in and through Christ, even in our adversities.

As we sit in the middle awaiting the next thing, God is moving.

In the middle of uncertainty.

In the middle of questioning.

In the middle of delays.

In the middle of heartbreak and disappointment.

In the middle of seeking Him…He is working.

What we see as setbacks are actually steps forward. What feels like floundering is fostering growth.

Remain steadfast, woman in the middle. He who calls you is faithful and He will surely do it.

I needed this… thank you, Kim. And I’m learning more about several of the biblical women you mentioned; I’m reading The Women of the Bible Speak by Shannon Bream. Have you read it by chance? Really good 🙂

I love how God speaks to us about the same thing, but from all different avenues and sources! I haven’t read her book but I love her. Will have to get it!
      Thanks again, Jill.
